Hello there. Let's spend the afternoon at the local market. We can browse through the stalls, find some fresh produce,
and perhaps buy a treat. Later we'll sit by the river and enjoy our snacks together.

Word Origin: Sabotage
Hear it read aloud
'Sabotage' means to deliberately damage or ruin something. One popular story links it to the 'sabot,' a wooden shoe once worn by workers in France, who were said to throw their sabots into machines to break them during labor disputes. The truer explanation is that the word grew from clumsy, noisy work done 'as if clattering about in wooden shoes.' Either way, it now means intentional destruction. Example: 'They accused a rival of sabotaging the project.'
